It’s easy to think that working harder and doing more will help you fulfill your purpose, but in reality, constantly running on empty only leads to burnout and exhaustion. That’s why it’s so important to seek work-life harmony—not balance, where everything is perfectly even, but harmony, where the different parts of your life come together in a way that nurtures both your soul and your responsibilities.

Your wellbeing—physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually—matters. If you’re constantly giving to others but neglecting yourself, it becomes harder to show up fully in your work, relationships, and ministry. Seeking work-life harmony means making space for rest, joy, and self-care. It’s a reminder that your health and happiness are not just important; they are essential. (And don’t worry—I’m preaching to myself here!)

When you take care of yourself, you can bring your best, most vibrant self to the work God has called you to do. Here are some reasons why it’s important to seek work-life harmony…

1. It Prevents Burnout

You’ve probably felt the weight of burnout before—those moments when you’re so overwhelmed that even the smallest tasks feel impossible. When we push ourselves too hard for too long, we risk losing the energy, clarity, and passion that once fueled us. Work-life harmony helps prevent this by giving you permission to step back and breathe.

2. It Honours God’s Design for Rest

God didn’t design us to work endlessly without pause. Throughout the Bible we see the importance of rest and renewal—Jesus Himself took time away from the crowds to pray and rest. When we seek work-life harmony, we are honouring God’s design for a balanced, fruitful life. When you make space for both work and rest, you’re allowing God’s grace to fill the spaces where your strength may fall short.

3. It Helps You Live with Purpose

When you’re constantly rushing from one thing to the next, it’s easy to lose sight of your purpose. But work-life harmony gives you the clarity to remember why you’re doing what you do. By creating a rhythm of work and rest, you can approach each day with intention, focusing on what truly matters. Whether it’s serving your community, growing in your faith, or taking care of yourself, work-life harmony helps you live a life that feels purposeful and fulfilling.

I know it can feel hard to step away from your responsibilities, especially when so much of what you do is rooted in your desire to serve others. But remember, seeking work-life harmony is not about doing less—it’s about finding a rhythm that nurtures both your soul and your work.

God is calling you to live a life that feels balanced, joyful, and fulfilling. Take small steps toward creating more harmony in your days by setting aside time for rest. I believe that as you seek harmony, you’ll find deeper peace, purpose, and joy in everything you do.

With all my love and encouragement,
