Life can be so overwhelming sometimes. With all the responsibilities you juggle and the constant demands on your heart and mind, it’s easy to feel emotionally drained. When I find myself in that place, I pull out one of the tools in my emotional wellbeing toolbelt: Aromatherapy. This is a powerful one!

Essential oils can help soothe your emotions and bring a sense of peace when life feels heavy. They’ve been used for centuries to promote emotional wellbeing, and now the science is backing it up, too! Here are a few oils that might bring some calm, clarity, and joy into your life…

1. Lavender: The Calming Oil

Lavender is a classic when it comes to emotional support. Known for its soothing and calming properties, lavender can be a wonderful oil to turn to when worry, stress, or sleepless nights creep in. Just a few drops in a diffuser or on your pillow can help ease tension, calm racing thoughts, and promote a more peaceful state of mind. It’s like a warm hug in a bottle, reminding you to breathe and rest.

2. Frankincense: The Grounding Oil

If you’re feeling disconnected or overwhelmed, frankincense might be exactly what you need. Often called the “king of oils,” frankincense has a deep, grounding aroma that can help bring you back to a place of emotional balance. It’s perfect for those moments when your thoughts are scattered, and you’re searching for clarity.

3. Bergamot: The Uplifting Oil

When you’re feeling down or stuck in a cycle of negativity, bergamot can be a gentle pick-me-up. This citrusy oil is known for its mood-lifting properties, helping to ease feelings of sadness and restore a sense of joy. Its bright and fresh aroma can remind you that even on the darkest days, there is light and hope to be found.

How to Use Essential Oils for Emotions

The easiest and most effective way to use oils for emotions is to simply breathe them in! When you inhale the oil, it crosses the blood-brain barrier and goes straight to the limbic lobe of the brain – your emotional control centre. Oils are fast-acting, and powerful.

It could be as simple as breathing the oil straight from the bottle, or you could try adding a few drops to your diffuser to fill your space with calming or uplifting aromas. I use different techniques depending on the oil and purpose – I’ll be sharing the specifics around this in the coming weeks over in the private community (click here).

Remember, you don’t have to carry all your burdens alone. Though essential oils aren’t a cure-all, they can be a gentle, nurturing way to support your emotional wellbeing when life feels overwhelming.

With love and warmth,

Kiarra

P.S. A note on oil safety: Do your research into the brand of oil you’re using. The essential oil industry isn’t well regulated, and unfortunately (and despite what they may say on the bottle) most oils aren’t a pure oil. As always, I’m more than happy to share the brands I use and trust. All you need to do is reach out 🙂
